Tina Pico is the founder, content creator, and web mistress of Vegan Nonuts. She has a passion for understanding how our food choices impact the planet and has been actively involved in raising environmental awareness for over ten years. Tina has been vegetarian since 2009, vegan since 2014, and nut-free since 2016. When she’s not spreading compassion through cooking allergy-friendly meals, she enjoys spending time in nature and creating art.
Tina earned her Bachelors of Engineering in Environmental Engineering with High Honors and her Masters of Engineering in Ocean Engineering with a focus on Coastal Processes from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. Through her education, she learned to problem solve, think critically, and communicate technical material through written reports, presentations, graphics, and spoken word. She is a natural teacher, and used these skills during her time as a US Peace Corps Volunteer in Namibia, Africa where she was tasked to teach math and science to middle and high school students.
Now, Tina spends her time working with photography, personal coaching, and writing through Vegan Nonuts while also working full time as a Coastal Engineer for a private engineering firm. All of her previous experience has taught her how to be adaptable, flexible, and understanding in any situation, and she loves the challenge that new experiences bring.
